The Basics Of Citizenship

SOUTHBURY — Brownstein Jewish Family Service of The Federation: Jewish Communities of Western CT, Inc, is exploring the possibility of offering free citizenship classes for anybody who is an eligible legal resident in the area. Classes would meet on Sunday mornings at 444 Main Street North in Southbury.

The classes will cover American history and civics as well as reading and writing skills, and books would be provided. Assistance in filling out applications will also be available.

Advantages of becoming a citizen include voting, being eligible to obtain federal jobs and benefits, and being able to file petitions for other family members to come to this country.

For more information contact Debby Horowitz, Brownstein JFS director, at 267-3177, extension 105.
