Waterbury Railroad Will Offer Rides With Thomas The Tank Engine

WATERBURY — The fifth annual Day Out with Thomas will offer young fans and their families a day of railroad fun and the opportunity to enjoy a ride with their storybook friend Thomas the Tank Engine. The festivities will be held at Library Park, on Grand Street, from Friday to Sunday, August 3–5 and 10–12. Thomas trains will depart from Waterbury Union Station every 45 minutes, from 9 am to 3:45 pm.

Tickets are $16, and are sold for a specific day and time. Advance purchase is recommended for the popular event. For tickets, call 866-468-7630 or visit TicketWeb.com. The event will go on rain or shine.

Thomas Days are celebrated each year at heritage railroads nationwide. For the Waterbury days, sponsored by The Railroad Museum of New England and The Naugatuck Railroad Company, Thomas will chug off as the engine leading 25-minute rides into the countryside. Sir Topham Hat, the dapper chairman of the fantasy railroad, will be on hand to pose for photos with young admirers.
