Millie McIlrath

Millie (Yurik) McIlrath, 85, of Newtown, died peacefully, at her home, July 27, with her family by her side. She is now reunited with her husband of 62 years, Bill, who died last November. She was born in Danbury, daughter of Elizabeth (Marek) and John Yurik, January 13, 1927.

After graduating from Danbury High School, she was employed by the Barden Corp, until starting her family with Bill.

She worked for the superintendent of schools in Newtown, W.N. de Sherbinin, and Unimar before retiring.

They loved taking vacations with their children, and as adults traveled with friends to Europe and other locations in the United States.

Mrs McIlrath was devoted to her family and friends and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Kathleen Quinn, and her husband George, of Newtown; her sons, Brian, and his wife Mary, of Danbury, Thomas of Danbury, and William, and his wife Lyn, of Bethel; her nine grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. Her sister, Anna Marasco of Georgia; her brother-in-law, the Reverend Leo McIlrath, and his wife Dianne, of Newtown; her sisters-in-law, Rita Murphy of Danbury, Hazel McIlrath of Brookfield, and Isabel Yurik of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews also survive Mrs McIlrath. Her brother, John, and her sisters, Christina Novicky, Susan Tuzzio, Catherine Herbst, and Alice Pazsak predeceased Mrs Smith.

A graveside service took place at St Peter Cemetery July 31, with the Reverend Leo McIlrath officiating.
