George E. Dowling, 57, of Shelton died August 2 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in Waterbury on January 24, 1959, son of John J. Dowling, of Shelton, and the late Jane (Holmes) Dowling.berginfuneralhome.com.

In addition to his father, his two brothers Mark J. Dowling and his wife, Susan, of Newtown and John H. Dowling and his wife, Lisa, of Southbury; his nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins survive him.

Raised in the Huntington section of Shelton, Mr Dowling was a graduate of Mohegan Grammar School and St Joseph's High School in Trumbull. He received his BA in economics and an MBA from the University of Hartford. He was employed with Hartley and Parker Limited for many years.

Mr Dowling will be remembered as a devout Catholic and proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed history, traveling, reading, hiking, and fishing.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, August 5, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main Street in Waterbury.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, at 9:15 am, from the funeral home to St John of the Cross Church in Middlebury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
