Call To Artists For Next ‘Radius’ Series

RIDGEFIELD — The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and Ridgefield Guild of Artists have issued a call for artists to enter “2005 Radius: Professional Practice Series for Artists.”

The deadline for artists to submit a prospectus and sampling of their work is August 19.

For the past seven years, The Aldrich and the RGA have partnered to organize “Radius,” a juried exhibition to identify talented yet under-recognized artists from the region. Recently the program was expanded to allow each selected artist an individual exchange with an Aldrich curator and create a public forum to address important issues and opportunities for professional advancement.

Artists may submit an application and up to eight images for review by the selection committee. Artists who are selected from the application pool will receive a one-on-one portfolio review with a curator.

A panel of art professionals will provide guidance and candid thoughts about the art marketplace during a panel discussion open to all “Radius” entrants as well as the public on Saturday, November 5.

Finally, each of the selected artists will have work included in a group exhibition at RGA, scheduled to be presented November 5 until December 4.

Curators from both institutions will jury all submissions and conduct the portfolio interviews.

Entries will be accepted from artists who do not have gallery representation and who reside in Connecticut as well as the Westchester, Putnam or Dutchess counties in New York.

There is no entry fee.
