Blair Balmforth

Blair Edward Balmforth, 41, of Bethel, passed away of natural causes at his home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Blair was born in San Jose, Calif., on October 16, 1983, a son of Ernest (Buzz) and Janice Balmforth. In 1996 Blair relocated with his family to Newtown, where he attended Newtown Middle School and graduated from Newtown High School. While in high school, and after, he worked as a lifeguard/swim instructor in Newtown.

While Blair was attending Newtown High School, he volunteered with Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, where he developed his desire as to the field he wanted to pursue.

Blair began his employment at Danbury Hospital/Nuvance Health and American Medical Response (AMR). While there he continued his academic studies. In 2008 Blair received his certification as a Paramedic. Blair continued his education at American Military University where he earned a BA and Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, and then a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Blair utilized his training and education at a variety of emergency medical service positions including Paramedic and Paramedic Field Training office at AMR. At Danbury Hospital/Nuvance Health, Blair’s positions included Paramedic, Paramedic Supervisor, Regional EMS Coordinator, Emergency Management Manager, Injury Prevention Coordinator, and working with various state organizations. In 2018, Blair was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award by the CT EMS Council for his contribution to improving pre-hospital care.

In his various roles within the EMS Network, Blair was a devoted son, a proud brother, and a loyal friend. He was a “Dog Dad” to his beloved Brady, who was his constant companion and source of joy.

Blair leaves behind his loving family, friends and co-workers. The family includes his dad, Ernest (Buzz); his mom, Janice; his sister, Heather and her husband, Tony; his nieces, Kadence and Kinslee; his brother, Brett; his Grandma Iola; his Aunt Helen; his Aunt Debra; his Uncle Tony; along with his cousins.

Friends will be received from noon to 4 pm on Sunday, August 10, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury.
