Frances Simone
Frances Anne Simone graced us with her life on December 9 in the year 1942. She was the third daughter of Arthur and Barbara Reheuser, and the youngest sister to Mary and Barbara.
She was born into a family of teachers in Queens, New York, and she carried on the legacy with her sisters. After some time practicing as a nun and teaching at a Catholic high school in the Bronx, she decided to leave the Order and continue down the path of education. You could say it was fate when she went on a little vacation in 1974 and met the love of her life, Stephen, getting married to him two years later on the 200th anniversary of the United States of America, July 4, 1976.
They later moved to Newtown and adopted two children together, the first being Suzanne in 1982, and then Robert in 1989. She continued teaching until 2007 when she decided to retire and devoted herself to helping her family, mostly Suzy and her own daughter, Jennifer.
The life of retirement treated her more than fairly as she loved to engage in many small activities and hobbies, such as painting, going to book club, and meeting with friends for lunch. She kept in touch with everybody, even asked for people you never would’ve thought she would remember. She was blessed with the greatest memory and there’s not a single person out there that didn’t smile when in her presence.
Heaven gained another good soul on August 3, 2025, when her four-month battle with kidney disease finally came to an end. She is no longer suffering; she is no longer in pain. We will all miss her terribly, but she is where she belongs, with God, Suzy, her parents, and all the kitties she adored during her life.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 7, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 8, at 10:30 am, in St Rose of Lima Church. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
