Gardening Fair Planned At Extension Center

The Fairfield County Extension Center will present a gardening fair on Saturday, August 14, from 1 to 4 pm.

Admission is free, and the first 30 visitors will receive a perennial plant. The extension center is at 67 Stony Hill Road (Route 6).

Gardening experts will be offering lectures including “Water Gardens: How To Create and Maintain Them,” “Fall Is For Planting (What You Can Do in the Fall For Your Gardens,” “Weeds As indicators: Practical Garden Folklore,” “Container Gardening: No Need to Contain Your Imagination,” and more.

The Plant Doctor will be on hand to answer garden-related questions. Attendees are welcome to bring questions and event problem plant samples for him. Master gardeners will also be available with plant, soil and garden questions, identify plants and weeds, and help with pest identification and management.

Volunteers will offer a guided tour and discussion of perennial plants, and there will be a nature walk with a wildflower expert. Various turf types and invasive plants will be displayed and identified.

There is no admission, and registration is not required. For additional information call the Master Gardener Office at 207-3262.
