Openings In Adesso, An Eclectic Chorus For Female Voices

RIDGEFIELD — Adesso Choral Society, an eclectic women’s choral group based in Ridfgefield, is now auditioning for its fall season.

The ensemble is dedicated to the promotion and presentation of quality local music, particularly by contemporary composers. Special emphasis is placed on performing music by local composers and composers from the broader New England area.

Formed last summer, the group entered its first concert season this past spring with two concert performances. A tight ensemble of nine female choristers performed in April at The Pequot Library in Southport, offering an eclectic program of songs for treble voices, performed a cappella and with piano accompaniment, including works of Mezzogorri, Arcadelt, Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Bourland, traditional country gospel, and the world premiere of “maggie and milly and molly and may,” a playful setting of an e.e. cummings poem written by Adesso Choral Society director Margaret Collins Stoop.

In June the group offers “Le Donne del Adesso” in Danbury, presenting music for treble voices dating from the Renaissance to today and including works of Jacques Arcadelt, Bourland and Faure, plus works by local composers Robert Baksa, Allen Brings and another work by Ms Collins Stoop.

For additional information or to schedule an audition contact Ms Collins Stoop at 203-438-2980 or visit www.AdessoChoralSociety.com.
