Occupation: I started at The Newtown Bee in 1981. I’m retired now, but I still come in once a week to do composition — that’s paste up — for the paper.

Family: I have five children, all grown up. Dennis lives in Newtown, and so does Tara. Kathleen is in Bethel; Maura is in Brookfield; and Sean is in Waterbury. I have 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one more great-grandchild on the way. They’re all wonderful kids!

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived here for 21 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I do a lot of gardening and yard work, at home and at The Pleasance. I’m also supervisor at the Newtown Village Cemetery. I do a lot of crossword puzzles.

Do you have a favorite sports team? Well, it has been the Red Sox… until this year.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? My wife and I used to go to Maine a lot, to the Kennebunkport area. Now I occasionally go places with Maura and her family.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I would say the ambulance crew. They’re always on the ball, and we can’t do without them.

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in town? The sidewalks around town. They weren’t here when we moved to Newtown. It’s a good thing. It makes it easier to walk about.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My wife, Ellen. She passed away in 2005. She did so much for me. She was unbelievable. I did the labor and she did the brain work.

Did you have a favorite toy, growing up? I’m 82 years old. So I would say, my bicycle. I went everywhere. That was when you could ride around without getting hit by a car.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I treat myself to breakfast once a week, at My Place Restaurant.
