Future Stars

Future Stars Basketball Academy will host its last summer program at Edmond Town Hall Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm.

The program is for boys and girls ages 9-15 and will focus in skill building, contests and game play.

Coach and former Seattle Super Sonics basketball player Frank Oleynick will host the program. Cost is $150. For information, call Frank at 203-367-1673.

Fall Softball

Sign up now to play girlsâ fall softball on the Babe Ruth web site www.newtownsoftball.org. The fall season starts in September and all girls born after January 1, 2000 are eligible to play. Registration fee is $90. For more information visit the league Website.

On the contrary, Mitch and the other Republicans in the CT legislature have been continually calling for a special session since you got your first nasty surprise in the mail from eversource. Feel free to sign the petition if you feel so strongly about the recent price hike at www.SpecialSessionCT.com - Meanwhile, Lamont and the rest of the CT Dems have been ignoring this request because the huge increase in the public benefits charge is EXACTLY what they wanted. A vote for Michelle Embree Ku will only strengthen Lamont's majority party and encourage more stealth tax packages in the CT legislature and energy policies. Lamont also elected to shutter the trash-to-energy plant in Hartford creating a twofer: trash crisis and energy crisis. Michelle I applaud and support you for focusing on the issues that impact everyone in the town. The next priority has to be on CT's out of control electricity rates. Your opponent and his supporters are quick to blame the other side of the aisle and have given up on trying to accomplish anything. You need to be the voice at the Capitol that the town needs and has missed for so long.
