How would you describe your occupation? My job title is office manager at the EverWonder Children’s Museum. Ninety percent of my job is the bit in the contract which says, “and anything else you are requested to do.” You never know what children are going to say, and it’s always amazing what they’re capable of thinking and doing. We get to know our members in particular. It’s a very fun environment with a great team.

Who is in your family? In Newtown, there’s the four of us: me and my husband, an eight-year-old, and a twelve-year-old.

Do you have any pets? We have a rabbit, Misty. She’s a Lionhead rabbit, and she’s double-maned. She’s not nearly as fancy as she sounds.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved here in September 2015 from Colorado. My husband is from Connecticut originally and this was closer to where he grew up. We’ve found that there’s a nice variety of activities for the kids, and we’ve made some really good friends.

What are you reading? Right now I’m rereading a series by Sharon Penman which deals with the final Welsh princes of Wales, including Llywelyn the Great. It’s the time of King John. I know that area fairly well so it’s fun to read about the castles that I’ve actually been to. I grew up just outside of North Wales over in Liverpool.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My mom, simply because she was of the opinion “if you want to try something, then try it. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter.” It was always a way through things. I was able to keep going, or switch and try something different. There wasn’t really ever any failure involved. If I didn’t want to continue down a road, it was okay.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? My mom passed away in May. It would still be her.

Who is your favorite musical artist? We’re going to see Lindsay Stirling in Bridgeport on Tuesday, so right now, Lindsay Stirling.

What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever been given? “Is it logical, is it rational, are you going to be alright doing it? Then, just give it a try.” That has taken me down some interesting roads at times, but not very many that I would regret at all.

What is something you can’t live without? Dark chocolate.

What is your proudest accomplishment? That I have been able to work out different routes through, and am still interested in seeing what’s new, different, and out there. And, trying to pass those ideas on.

What’s your favorite travel destination? Part of me would say any mountains in the summer or the winter. Hiking and mountain biking is as much fun as skiing and snowboarding. But, I also love to take a day at the beach. Old Saybrook is a family favorite.

What is the best part of Newtown? It’s the people. It really is. We came in here knowing just one set of friends. We’ve made friends and met with other families and individuals. It’s a small town without being a tiny town.
