Southbury Man Arrested For Newtown Kidnap Attempt

Newtown police report a Southbury man was charged in connection with a an

alleged kidnapping attempt on the afternoon of July 16 at the Blue Colony

Diner parking lot on Church Hill Road.

Police said they charged Bradford Wayne Garmon, 51, of 640 Patriot Road,

Southbury, with first-degree attempted kidnapping, second-degree assault with

a firearm, second-degree stalking, and threatening.

Police said they received a report of a man with a gun in the diner's parking

lot. Garmon allegedly was confronting two people who were sitting a parked

vehicle there, police said.

Garmon then allegedly struck a male victim in the side of the head with a

pistol, police said. Garmon then reportedly fled the scene via eastbound

Interstate-84, police said.

State police and Southbury police then located Garmon in Southbury and took

him into custody, returning him to Newtown to be charged, Newtown police said.

The male victim of the kidnapping attempt, whom police didn't identify, was

transported to Danbury Hospital where he was treated for injuries and

released, police said.

Newtown police held Garmon on a $25,000 bond for a July 17 arraignment on the

four charges in Danbury Superior Court.

At about 9 am July 18, police apprehended Garmon on a charge of violation of a

protective order in connection. They allege he illegally went to 640 Patriot

Road in Southbury.

Police listed Garmon's home address as 10 Penny Lane, Shelton. Police held

Garmon on a $100,000 bond for a July 20 arraignment in Waterbury Superior

Court in connection with the Patriot Road incident.
