SNAPSHOT: JEN PERRY

Occupation: As the head cashier of Lexington Gardens, I meet lots of different

people and am never stuck in one spot. According to my colleagues, I have a

knack for delegating.

Family: I am engaged to Jim Tani, a volunteer fireman here in town, and I plan

to be married next year.

Pets: I adore Ben and Sam, two red-eared slider brother turtles. I like

watching them swim, seeing their back feet fan out, and I like feeding them

their meals, little morsels of worms and crickets, which they get every other

day.

Biggest Change in Town: The biggest changes in town have been the housing

developments. One can't drive down a road and see open land because it is all

built on. The country life is fast disappearing -- Newtown will soon be a

city.

Hobbies: I'm a NASCAR fan; I like to see cars crash, compete, lose, and win.

In May, we're going to Dover, Del., hoping to see Jeff Gordan, the 1995 and

1997 NASCAR racing champion.

Books: I like to be scared. It gives me a thrill. Dean Koontz's Phantoms,

filled with spiders as it is, does that job nicely.

Movies: My two favorite movies are Top Gun and The Little Mermaid. Tom Cruise

is gorgeous, and moreover, a great actor, and I have always been fascinated

with mermaids. They can charm men in a way that mortal women cannot.

Personal philosophy: The Golden Rule.
