Sidney Corris
Sidney (Sid) Corris, 81, of Stratford, the father of Gary Corris and Barbara
Tabaka of Newtown, died on February 23. He was the husband of Dorothy Quimby
Corris of Stratford.
Mr Corris had been a lifelong Stratford resident. He was a World War II
veteran of the US Army Air Corps and a member of the American Legion. He was a
retired self-employed electrical contractor.
An active member of the First Congregational Church in Stratford, Mr Corris
served as the sexton there for many years.
Mr Corris also is survived by two other children, Beverly Cambras of Stratford
and Theodore Corris of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Edna Ward, and a brother,
Milton Corris, both of Stratford; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren,
and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, at 1 pm, in the
First Congregational Church, STratford, with the Rev John Clarke, pastor,
officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours. The Spear, Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home of
Stratford is in charge of the arrangements.

Dickon Rost Hunter
Dickon Rost Hunter, 79, of Norwalk, died February 13, at the Honeyhill Care
Center in Norwalk.
Born in Norwalk, December 12, 1919, Mr Hunter was the son of the late Clinton
Kirby Hunter and Cornelia Kimball Rost. He had lived in Norwalk most of his
life and had also lived for eight years in Newtown before retiring to
Pinehurst, N.C.
Mr Hunter was a graduate of Columbia University and had received his master's
degree in education. He was the former principal of West Rocks and Ponus Ridge
Schools in Norwalk and was also a veteran of World War II, having served in
the US Navy. He was a member of the Shore Haven Golf Club and the Pinehurst
Golf Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Wesley) Hunter, and his first wife,
Jean (Meeker) Hunter.
Survivors include three daughters, M. Kelly Hunter of St John, Virgin Islands,
and Kimball H. Hannah and E. Kirby Hunter, both of Norwalk; a sister, Ardea
(Hunter) Wacker of Norfolk, Va.; and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 26 at 10 am, at the Magner
Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, with the Rev Kenneth J. Keiffer, pastor
of the East Avenue United Methodist Church in Norwalk officiating. Interment
will be private. There will be no visiting hours.

Margery H. Fisk
Margery H. Fisk, 75, wife of Merlin E. Fisk of 28 Parmalee Hill Road, Newtown,
died February 18, in Danbury Hospital. Mrs Fisk was born in Bladen, Neb., July
8, 1923, daughter of the late John and Phyllis (Neligh) Hall.
She graduated from Montana State University and shortly after married her
husband, who she met in college. They had been married 56 years. A resident of
Newtown for 27 years, she had formerly lived in Aruba for 22 years, where her
husband was an executive with Exxon Oil Company. She also lived in Greece,
Spain and Belgium.
She was a member of the Newtown Garden Club and the Newtown Horticultural
Club.
She is survived, besides her husband, by four daughters, Dana Pitts of
Chappaqua, N.Y., Catherine Forsyth of Geneva, Switzerland, Anne Ghinassi of
Wakefield, Mass., and Elizabeth Barisser of Waterbury; a brother, John R.
Hall, Jr, of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Main Street,
Newtown, Saturday, March 6, at 2 pm. Cremation will take place at the
convenience of the family. Following the service, a reception will be held at
the Cyrenius H. Booth Library.

Lawson Brian Burke
Lawson Brian Burke, 25, of 52 South Street, Danbury, son of L. Brian and Maria
(Hydock) Burke of Newtown, died February 18, after a courageous battle with
cancer.
He was born in Mount Laurel, N.J., June 29, 1973. He moved to Newtown in 1977
and graduated from Newtown High School in 1992. Mr Burke attended Wentworth
Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass., and Western Connecticut State
University.
He had a passion for life, reading, music, hockey and soccer. His
individuality and creativity will be greatly missed by all those who knew and
loved him.
Lawson was employed as a technical designer for Architectural Arts in
Greenwich.
He is survived, besides his parents, by two sisters, Kristin Hynes of Trumbull
and Tamara Burke of Glastonbury; and his paternal grandmother, Apollonia Burke
of West Hartford.
Funeral services were held February 23, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main
Street, Newtown, and at St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.

John Louis Telenko
John Louis Telenko, "Butch," 86, formerly of Danbury, died February 18, at his
residence in Gardena, Calif. He was the father of Joan Lubus and grandfather
of Catherine (Lubus) Simmons, both of Newtown.
Born in Danbury June 8, 1912, he was the son of the late John and Barbara
(Arva) Telenko. Mr Telenko was educated in Danbury schools and graduated from
Henry Abbott Technical School as a machinist. He was a member of St Joseph's
Church until 1961. In Danbury he also played semi-pro football during the
Depression.
Mr Telenko was a Boy Scouts of America Cub Master at St Joseph's School for
many years. He was an avid fisherman, coin collector and enjoyed traveling. In
Danbury he was employed by Louis Bennett Company, a manufacturer of hatter's
cones. He also co-owned Butler's & Telenko Bicycle & Key Shop at 17 Elm
Street, from 1946 to 1961, where he was a locksmith. In 1961 he moved to
Staten Island, N.Y., and was employed by Proctor & Gamble at Port Ivory as a
tinsmith and machinist.
Husband of the late Josephine (O'Halloran) Telenko and Louise (Panno) Telenko,
Mr Telenko is survived by two sons, John L. Telenko, Jr, of Staten Island,
N.Y., and David P. Telenko of Gardena, Calif; two stepdaughters, Catherine
Wilday of Staten Island, N.Y., and Rosemary DeVito of E. Layton, Utah; ten
step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased
by a stepson, Eugene Velci.
A Mass was held at St Sylvester R.C. Church, Concord, Staten Island, N.Y.
Burial was in St Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton, Staten Island, N.Y.

Florence Latham
Florence (Dillistin) Latham, 77, of Bridgeport, died on February 21, in Grant
Street Health Rehabilitation Center. She was the sister of Gloria Manson of
Newtown.
Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Latham had been a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by her husband, John Latham of Bridgeport; a son, Hugh Quinn
of Alabama; a granddaughter, Valerie Quinn, also of Alabama; two other
sisters, Gertrude Brzozowski of Huntington, and Barbara Bradshaw of Monroe;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held February 25 in the Lesko-Milner Funeral Home, 155
Main Street, (Route 25), Monroe, with the Rev Edward Colohan officiating.
Interment was at Long Hill Cemetery in Trumbull.

Dorothy Hastings
Dorothy E. Hastings, 76, wife of the late William Hastings, formerly of Fords,
N.J., died February 18, in Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury. She as
the mother of Barbara (Hastings) Danziger of Newtown.
She was born in New York City on June 4, 1922, daughter of the late Willard
and Anna (Adamson) Hare.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Martin of Middleburg, Fla.; one
sister, Muriel Fleischer of Toms River, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Brian
and Katherine Danziger of Newtown and Jason and Christopher Farkas of
Middleburg, Fla.
Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church, Redding Ridge, on
February 20, with Rev Kent Smith officiating. Interment was in St Gertrude
Cemetery, Islin, N.J.

Arrangements were arranged by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Joseph A. Marus
Joseph A. Marus, 78, of Shelton, father of Robert Marus of Newtown, died on
February 17, in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, he was a resident of
Shelton for two years.
Mr Marus was a retired truck driver for the Teamsters Trucking, having driven
for Frisbie Pie Co, Borden's Dairy and Wonder Bread Bakery. After his
retirement, he became a warehouse manager for Fleet Bank and was a World War
II veteran of the US Army. He was a long time member of St John Nepomucene
Church.
Survivors, in addition to his son, include his beloved wife of almost 50 years
(in May), Dorothy (Davis) Marus; his children, Joseph Marus of Milford; Susan
Voccola of Shelton; Sharon DeRiso of Shelton and John Marus and Maria
Hernandez, of Trumbull; three sisters, Ann Sydoriak of Prospect; Pauline
Valovcin of Trumbull and Frances Mudre of Stratford; a brother, Richard Marus
of Stratford; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on February 22 in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50
Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and in St Lawrence Church with a Mass of
Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors was in St John's
Cemetery, Monroe .

Janet E. Randlett
Janet E. Smith Randlett, 82, of Bridgeport, mother of Stephen M. Randlett of
Newtown, died February 18, in Southport Manor after a brief illness. She was
the wife of the late Herbert Randlett.
Born in Portland, Maine, she resided in the Lake Forest area of Bridgeport for
45 years and was a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York City.
Survivors, in addition to her son, include a sister, Barbara Baldwin of
Haverhill, Mass.; five grandchildren, Douglas, Michael, Robin, Karyn and
Christopher; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A prayer service was held February 19 in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home in
Trumbull, officiated by Pastor Lyle Beckman of St Paul's Lutheran Church.
Interment was private.

John E. Payne
John E. Payne, 58, husband of Jane (Linnemeyer) Payne of 142 Mt Pleasant Road,
Newtown, proprietor of Payne's Nursery & Florist in Newtown, died February 18,
in Danbury Hospital. He was the father of Charles E. Payne of Newtown.
He was born in Mineola, N.Y., on May 14, 1940, son of the late Franklin and
Matilda (Ropke) Payne. He graduated from Baldwin High School, Baldwin, N.Y. in
1958. He attended the State University of New York in Farmington, graduating
with a degree in ornamental horticulture.
A resident of Newtown since 1942, he was a member and former treasurer of the
Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived, besides his wife and son, by one daughter, Janice P. Stock of
New Milford; two brothers, Franklin P. Payne of Baldwin, N.Y. and Jeffrey B.
Payne of Deer Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Benjamin and James Payne and
Jane Stock.
A memorial service was held at the Newtown Congregational Church on February
22. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
