Susan D. Rajcok

Susan Dorothy (Plue) Rajcok, 83, of Currituck Road, Newtown, died. She was the

mother of Andrew Rajcok of Newtown.

She was the widow of Andrew Rajcok, a Newtown builder.

Mrs Rajcok was a graduate of Danbury High School and trained for her RN at

Danbury Hospital where she was employed upon graduation.

In addition to her son, Mrs Rajcok leaves two great-grandchildren, Kiah and

Christopher DeVona; her granddaughter, Katrina DeVona of Southington; and her

brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Anna Krizan of Danbury.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Hull Funeral Service, 60 Division Street, Danbury, is in charge of

arrangements .

Elizabeth Barton

Elizabeth (Keating) Barton, 73, of 41 Tamarack Avenue, Danbury, wife of Robert

Barton Sr., died at Bethel Health Care Center on January 27. She was the

mother of Nancy Hayes of Newtown.

She was born in Danbury August 5, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward and

Julia (Kerwin) Keating. She was a graduate of St Peter School and Danbury High

School.

Before her 1987 retirement, Mrs Barton worked as an inspector for Barden

Corporation for 26 years.

She was a member of St Joseph Church in Danbury.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by a son, Robert

Barton, Jr, of Vermont; two other daughters, Barbara Obringer of New Fairfield

and Joan Grilley of Danbury; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and

nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Joseph Church on January

30 at 10 am. Burial will be in St Peter Cemetery.

Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on January

29, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.

Shirley H. Mezias

Shirley H. Mezias, 71, of Belleview, Fla., sister of Stephen Baxter of

Newtown, died January 27, in Senior Meadows.

Mrs Mezias was born in Bridgeport and resided in Monroe before moving to

Florida in 1990. She was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church. She was

employed by GE for 25 years in Bridgeport as an assembler.

In addition to her brother, survivors include her husband, Mario A Mezias, Sr,

of Belleview, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia St Cyr of Concord, N.C.; two sons,

Chas St Cyr of Ocklawaha, Fla. and Richard St Cyr of Trumbull; four stepsons,

Mario A. Mezias, Jr, of Hollywood, Fla., Raymond J. Mezias of Hollywood, Fla.,

Jay H. Mezias of Naugatuck and Thomas J. Mezias of Beacon Falls; another

brother, William Baxter of Hollywood, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three

great-grandchildren.

Hiers-Belleview Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Helen B. Creamer

Helen (Bohan) Creamer of Woodbridge, widow of Walter Creamer, died on January

26, in St Raphael Hospital. She was a cousin of William Lavery and Hugh Lavery

of Newtown.

Born in New Haven, she had been a Woodbridge resident for over 40 years. She

was retired from the former law firm of White Brothers where she had been

employed as a legal assistant. Mrs Creamer was an active member of the

Woodbridge Senior Center.

In addition to her cousins, survivors include one sister-in-law, Jean Bohan of

Port Myers, Fla.; and another cousin, Elizabeth Maher of Easton. She had been

predeceased by a brother, Edward Bohan.

The funeral was held on January 28, in Our Lady of the Assumption Church,

Center Road, Woodbridge. Interment was in St Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.

The Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, was in charge of

arrangements.

Julia A. Fazekas

Julia A. (Jacob) Fazekas, 86, of Stratford, sister of Paul Jacob of Sandy

Hook, died January 23 in Mediplex of Milford. She was the wife of the late

Frank H. Fazekas.

Mrs Fazekas was born in Bridgeport February 18, 1912, daughter of the late

Paul and Julia (Vida) Jacob and had been a Stratford resident for the past 25

years. She was a retired seamstress with Mitchell Brothers and Warnaco.

In addition to her brother, survivors include one son, Frank P. Fazekas, of

Minnesota; one daughter, Dolores Girard of Stratford; five grandchildren; nine

great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on January 27 from the William R. McDonald Funeral

Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and in St James Church, Stratford, with a

Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Union Cemetery, Stratford.

Stephen F. Smith

Stephen Field Smith, 39, of Chesapeake, Va., died January 24.

Mr Smith was born in Milford, the son of Kenneth M. and Elizabeth (Field)

Smith of Hot Springs Village, Ark., formerly of Newtown.

He was a cook at Locks Pointe Restaurant in Chesapeake. Mr Smith was a member

of Great Bridge Baptist Church.

Mr Smith is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Curtiss) Smith; a son, Kenneth

Edward Smith; a daughter, Holly Curtiss Smith, all of Chesapeake; two

brothers, Kenneth Eric Smith of Virginia Beach and Darren M. Smith of Neshanic

Station, N.J.; and a sister, Cynthia Nye Hanna of Granby, Colo.

A funeral service was conducted on January 27, at Great Bridge Baptist Church,

Rev Charles Moseley and Rev Ramon M. Owens, Jr, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 360

Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.

Francis E. Gannon

Francis E. Gannon, 90, of Route 25, Newtown, husband of Margaret (Jablon)

Gannon, died January 23 in Ashlar of Newtown.

He was a veteran of WW II, where he won four bronze stars, Victory medal, and

German Occupation medal. He was also a member of Day Spring Masonic Lodge of

Hamden and the Ridgewood Country Club.

Funeral services were held January 26 at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad

Street, Milford. Interment was in King's Highway Cemetery.

Evelyn Pendergast

Evelyn M. Pendergast, 93, wife of the late John Pendergast, of 22 Evergreen

Road, Sandy Hook, died January 22 at Ashlar of Newtown.

Among her survivors are two sons, John Pendergast, Jr, and Fred Pendergast,

Sr, of Sandy Hook, a brother, Francis Bresson of Sandy Hook, and two sisters,

Anna Maye and Mary Maye of Newtown.

She was born in Newtown December 1, 1905, daughter of the late Frederick and

Mary (Qubick) Bresson. A lifelong resident of Newtown, she was a graduate of

Bridgeport Hospital of Nursing. A private duty nurse early in her career, she

took care of Newtown's benefactor, Mary Hawley, during her final illness.

During World War II she worked at the Danbury Hospital. She later worked at

the Southbury Training School. She was a member of St Rose Church and a former

4-H Club leader.

In addition to her sons, brother, and sisters, she is survived by two

daughters, Evelyn (Evie) Andrejczyk of Monroe and Eileen Garlichs of Clifton,

Va., one other sister, Elsie Coughlin of Danbury; 27 grandchildren; and 11

great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held January 25, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main

Street, Newtown, and at St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment was at St Rose Cemetery.

Robert A. Watt

Robert Alexander Watt, 62, of Bridgeport, brother of Harold Watt of Newtown,

died January 20 at home.

Born in Bridgeport he was employed by Pacelli Bakery for 48 years.

Survivors, in addition to his brother, include several nephews and nieces.

A grave side service was held January 25 in Park Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Morton's Mortuary Inc., 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane,

Bridgeport.

Alexander S. Dance

Alexander Scott Dance, 31, brother of John T. Dance of Newtown, died on

January 23. He had been a lifelong resident of Redding.

Mr Dance was born in Stamford on May 22, 1967, a son of Malcolm George Dance

of Bunnell, Fla., and Audrey Simmons Dance of Redding.

He was a member of Christ Church Parish in Redding and also was an avid

Oakland Raider and Dale Earnhardt fan.

In addition to his parents and his brother, he is survived by his paternal

grandmother, Marie F. Dance of Flagler Beach, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Mary

Jungling of Weston, four other brothers, Malcolm W. Dance of Redding, George

E. Dance of Flagler Beach, Fla., John R. Dance of Bunnell, Fla., and Andrew S.

Dance of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Audrey Scott of Norwalk, Mary

Burritt of Redding, Connie Borofsky of Easton, and Nancy-Ellen Otte of

Orlando, Fla.; stepmother, Nancy H. Dance of Bunnell, Fla.; great-aunt, Helen

Pederson; 11 nephews and four nieces; and his extended family of friends.

A Memorial Service was held on January 26 in Christ Episcopal Church, Redding

Ridge. The Rev Kent C. Smith, rector, officiated. The interment was private.

Milton Brumaghim

Milton W. Brumaghim, 67, father of Neal D. Brumaghim of Newtown, died January

22, in the Danbury Hospital. Mr Brumaghim was the husband of the late Patricia

(Short) Brumaghim and resided on Bears Hill Road, Newtown.

He was the retired owner of Phoenix Engineering of Shelton.

He was born in Gloversville, N.Y., January 11, 1932, a son of the late William

and Lydia (Slack) Brumaghim. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean

War. A resident of Newtown since 1958, Mr Brumaghim was a former member of the

Newtown Jaycees, a volunteer at Middle Gate School, and a Boy Scout troop

leader.

He is survived by two other children, Melissa Eisenbach of Southbury and

Rebecca Scott of Beverly, Mass.; two brothers, Victor Brumaghim of

Gloversville, N.Y., and Paul Brumaghim of Danville, N.Y.; a sister, Ruth

Trzaskos of Amsterdam, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and

nephews.

Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Florence Nuccitelli

Florence Nuccitelli, 87, of Plains Road, Milford, wife of Victor "Nucci"

Nuccitelli and sister of Salvatore DeCesare of Newtown, died January 21 in

Ansonia.

Born in Bridgeport, December 17, 1911, she was the daughter of the late

Charles and Louise (Marabella) DeCesare, and was a resident of Milford for 60

years. She was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Church, Milford, and an

avid duck pin bowler, where she was a champion on the state level.

In addition to her husband and brother, Mrs Muccitelli is survived by a son,

Victor Nuccitelli, of Lehi, Utah; two daughters, Gloria Urbano of Bridgeport,

and Jacqueline Case, of Milford; two other brothers, Charles DeCesare and

Frank DeCesare, both of the Huntington section of Shelton; a sister, Mollie

Capozzi of Stratford; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a

great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased

by a sister, Theresa Bocialatti.

Services were held January 25 at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street

on the Green, Milford, with a Mass of the Resurrection in Christ the Redeemer

Church, Milford. Interment was in St Mary's Cemetery, Milford.

Lydia B. Ruopp

Lydia (Behrens) Ruopp, 84, of 46 Hawleyville Road, Hawleyville, died at her

home January 21 with her family at her bedside. She was the wife of Theodore

Ruopp and the mother of James Ruopp of Hawleyville.

She was born in Gleason, Wis., one of 11 children, September 19, 1914,

daughter of Gustav P. and Mary (Niemeyer) Behrens. She lived later in

Arlington Heights, Ill., where she received her education. She moved to

Danbury in 1951 and to Hawleyville in 1984.

She and Mr Ruopp were married August 2, 1947, and celebrated 51 years of

marriage.

During World War II she worked as a secretary for the Armed Services

Commission and later for her husband's Company, Sipperly Artesian Well

Company. Her later years were devoted to her home and family. She was a member

of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was very active in its Women's Club and other

related church organizations.

Besides her husband and son, she is survived by three children, Kathleen Ruopp

of Chicago, Ill., Jerry Ruopp of New Fairfield, and Fibian Judith Ruopp of

Albuquerque, N.Mex.; two brothers, Herbert Behrens of Laurel Hill, N.J., and

Ralph Behrens of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Elvira Nelson of Schaumburg,

Ill., and Mildred Miller of Blue Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one

great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church January 25 with the Rev

Daniel Wehmeier, pastor, officiating. Cremation followed.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Anna and George Ruopp Memorial

Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the Women's Service Club of Immanuel

Lutheran Church, 26 West Street, Danbury, Conn. 06810.

Marie E. Carlson

Marie (Ebel) Carlson, 82, mother of Walter Carlson of Newtown, died on January

20, at the Bethel Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Walfred V.

Carlson, who died in 1995.

Mrs Carlson was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 14, 1916, a daughter of the

late William and Mary (Jones) Ebel. She was a resident of Georgetown for 62

years.

During World War II, she worked at the Gilbert and Bennett Wire Mill in

Georgetown and later assisted in the care of children for many families in the

local area.

Mrs Carlson was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown and was a

founding member and past president of its Rosary Society.

In addition to her son, survivors include another son, Ronald Carlson of

Georgetown; one daughter, Susan Wiston of New Milford; two sisters, Lillian

Meyer and Madeline Bonelli, both of Long Island; seven grandchildren; and two

great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on January 23 at 10 am in Sacred

Heart Church, Church Street, Georgetown, with the Rev M. Joseph Joaquin,

pastor, officiating. The interment followed in Branchville Cemetery,

Ridgefield.

Contributions in memory of Mrs Carlson may be made to the Alzheimer's

Association, Fairfield County Chapter, 611 Riverside Avenue, Westport, Conn.
