ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

Before I forget, TREBLEHOOK will be performing in another coffeehouse

environment this weekend. The trio from Sandy Hook -- Alan Morgan, Brian

Morgan and Andy Spencer -- will be at St Paul's Coffee House, at St Paul's

Church, Main Street in Woodbury, on Saturday, April 24. Doors open at 8:30 pm.

The band was the featured guest for last weekend's Newtown Coffeehouse at

Newtown Congregational Church, an event organizers hope will become a regular

happening. The trio has also been invited to perform again this summer at

Booth Library's outdoor summer concert series, so keep an eye out for that

date.

MIGHTY PURPLE, the New Haven band with a brand-new CD and one of the groups

featured in last weekend's radio 104 Earth Day concert at Bushnell Park, has

another show coming up in the state. The band plays The Webster Theatre in

Hartford on Saturday, May 1. That's an all ages show. Acoustic Junction will

be opening. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $12 at the door. Showtime is 9:30.

SPONGE is finally returning to Connecticut, this time as part of the second

radio 104 festival concert of the year. The Hartford radio station is pulling

its Big Day Off shows out of winter storage, with an announcement late last

week that the station's first such show of 1999 will be on Memorial Day at the

Meadows in Hartford. Among the bands that have been announced to date are the

Detroit boys SPONGE, along with FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE (who has a new album),

ORGY, REEL BIG FISH, LOCAL H and CRASH TEST DUMMIES. Tickets are available

through Pro-Tix outlets.

More tickets go on sale this weekend for the summer season at The Meadows in

Hartford. Saturday morning at 10, tickets go on sale for Ozzfest '99, which

lands in Hartford on June 19 at noon and will feature performances by BLACK

SABBATH, ROB ZOMBIE, DEFTONES, SLAYER, PRIMUS, GODSMACK and SYSTEM OF A DOWN

on the main stage. The second stage will feature sets by Fear Factory, Puya,

Slipknot, Hed Pe, Flashpoint, Pushmonkey, Drain, Apartment 26 and Static X.

Also going on sale are tickets for the June 29 date with TOM PETTY AND THE

HEARTBREAKERS. Tickets are $48.50 for pavilion seats, and $28.50 for the lawn

area.

JOHN CAFFERTY & THE BEAVER BROWN BAND are back on the road (or still on...),

with a show coming up next month at Toad's Place in New Haven. The band

returns for its millionth concert in Connecticut on May 28.

Also new on the schedule at Toad's Place is THE VERVE PIPE, June 27, and JOHN

MAYALL & THE BLUESBREAKERS, July 23.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
