Family: My husband, Dan Rosenthal; our oldest, Hana; our daughter Emi; and our son Ben.

Do you have any pets? We currently have two dogs — Frankie, who is a therapy dog with The Exceptional Pet, and Billie, who is a rescue we adopted from the Catherine Hubbard Butterfly Party.

How did you and your husband meet? We met in college. We both went to Fairfield U and we were in the same circle of friends but didn’t date until after we graduated. He invited me to go to the US Open Golf in Cheshire.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We bought our first house in January 1998.

Where do you work and what do you do? I work at Regional Hospice. It’s my fifth year there. I started doing payroll and I recently switched roles, and now provide clinical support. It’s definitely an amazing organization to be part of. It gives you a new perspective on life.

Are you a member of any clubs, organizations and/or communities of faith? I am definitely privileged to be part of many wonderful organizations. I am part of Kind Works, and I have volunteered with CMAK, and Ben’s Lighthouse. I think it definitely comes from Dan’s side of the family, who has such deep roots and commitment to community and volunteerism. Being married to the Rosenthal family definitely opened my eyes to be part of community organizations. I’ve also helped out, as an affiliation with Dan, Rotary, and I truly enjoy giving back to the community I am part of. I feel like it’s a privilege to be able to feel the sense of community through being part of organizations with like-minded people.

Who would you like to be stuck in an elevator with? Someone who could tell me fun stories to put me at ease.

Favorite food? I love making food at home, and sharing it with friends and family. Nothing fancy. My girls and I share recipes constantly, and I like to try them out and enjoy them together.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My family. I feel like we have a wonderful family — kids that Dan and I are very proud of. I’m proud of the years Dan served as First Selectman, and that we supported him wholeheartedly. I am also proud of my parents. I’ve lived away from them since I was 12, and I’m not sure that they envisioned me staying here for as long as I have, but I am grateful that they let me move to the US. As they get older, it’s sad not having any kids in Japan with them, and I’m proud of how well they’re doing.

Favorite movie or TV genre? Mindless comedies. Right now we’re watching Owen Wilson in Stick, the show about golf.

Favorite music genre? 80s

What was the most recent concert you went to? Sting, in Bridgeport. He performed with his son and it was awesome.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? I love the sense of community that we share through organizations, and the newspaper — there’s such a strong sense of community and history here. Also the fact that so many kids who grew up here do come back to start their family.

Do you have a personal credo? Never go to bed angry. Start your day fresh, without carrying over any negativity.
