Ann (Liphardt) Terrill, 77, of Southbury, Conn. departed this life surrounded by her children and grandchildren on July 14, 2023. She is the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Weasa) Liphardt, and loving wife of 60 years to the late Frederick Terrill.

Ann was born in 1945 in Detroit, Mich. and moved to Southbury, where she resided until her marriage to Fred. Ann and Fred had four children, who they raised in Sandy Hook among their extended family. They lived next door to Fred’s Aunt Helen and Uncle Bill, whose support in the early years was invaluable.

Ann was a successful realtor in Newtown for over 30 years and was named Newtown’s Businesswoman of the Year in 1987. Having a strong commitment to community, she was a founding member of the Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP). The organization strived to improve downtown Sandy Hook by raising money to invest and improve the local community.

Ann and Fred semi-retired in the early 1990s, spending several years traveling across the country; skiing in Utah at Alta in the winter, fishing in Alaska in the summer, and forming lifelong friendships along the way. In 2010, Ann and Fred moved to Florida, where they resided for six years. During this time, Ann became a Lay Eucharistic Minister at the Corpus Christi Episcopal Church and was dedicated to Prison Ministry, providing worship services to inmates.

Ann’s greatest love was for her family. She cherished her time with each of her children and grandchildren and looked forward to family vacations on the Connecticut shore, a tradition of 24 years. Known to her family as “Granny,” she was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. A very willing listener and advisor, she was frequently sought out by her family to help navigate through life’s ups and downs. A compassionate and non-judgmental person, Ann chose to see the good in all people. She was a role model and an inspiration to all whose lives she touched.

Ann is survived by her four children: Rick Terrill of Durham, Conn., Scott (Chryse) Terrill of Southbury, Conn., daughters Lisa (Ken) Hageman of Colchester, Conn., and Jennifer Campanale of Shrewsbury, Mass.; six grandsons: Casey, Jack, and Drew Campanale, Zachary Terrill, Dutcher and Max Terrill, and three granddaughters: Kate and Annie Hageman and Madison Terrill; two siblings: Paul Liphardt of Southbury, Conn. and Jim Liphardt of Naugatuck, Conn., many loved nieces and nephews, and her best friend of 60 years Pat Anderson. She was pre-deceased by her husband Fred in 2022, and brothers Bob, Bill, and John.

Services will be held at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St South, Southbury, Conn., on August 19, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm. Following the services, there will be a Celebration of Life at her son’s home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Southbury Land Trust, PO Box 600, Southbury, CT 06488 or St Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
