Basic Emergency Medical Technician Course

Starts In September

DANBURY — Matthew G. Cassavechia, director of Danbury Hospital Emergency Medical Services, announced that a Basic Emergency Medical Technician Course will take place at Danbury Hospital starting Tuesday, September 11.

The three-month course meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 11, some Wednesday evenings also from 7 to 11, and occasional Saturdays from 8 am to 4 pm. The Basic Emergency Medical Technician Course will meet in John C. Creasy Center for Health Education Auditorium, located on the fifth floor of the Tower Lobby.

Course participants, patients, and visitors must enter and exit Danbury Hospital through the Stroock Building Lobby located on the first floor at the Praxair Cancer Center. Parking is available in the Red Parking Garage using the Locust Avenue entrance.

Upon completion of the EMT-Basic course students will be qualified to take the National Registry exams to receive their Connecticut and national EMT-B certification.

Emergency Training Resources far exceeds the requirements for state and national EMS programs by providing participants with more hands-on experience and follow-up with real world practice in the Emergency Department and on the ambulance with the hospital’s EMTs and paramedics.

During EMT training, participants will gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are necessary to be a valuable part of the Emergency Health Care System.

Fee for the three-month course is $750, and payment must be submitted in full before the first week of the program. All students will be subject to a criminal background check prior to the start of the course. Personal check, bank check, money order or credit cards is an acceptable form of payment.
