Bethlehem Fair Returning

September 7-9

BETHLEHEM — The 88th Bethlehem Fair will be held Friday through Sunday, September 7-9.

The gates open on Friday evening at 5 pm. Enjoy Cruise Night with a 50s, 60s and 70s car show, along with music of the 60s and 70s from Downhill Tangerine on the main stage at 7:30 pm, and a pony draw. Friday will also be bracelet night: unlimited amusement rides from 5 to 10 pm for one price. Gates closed on Friday at 11 pm.

Saturday’s hours will be 8 am to 11 pm, and Sunday the fair will run from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

On Saturday, attendees will enjoy songs from the 60s to present by The Groove at 5 pm and Beginnings, a Chicago tribute band, at 8:30 pm, both at the main stage. Other events on Saturday include Junior Dairy show, oxen draw, antique tractor pull, a performance by CT Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers, Battle of the Bands, wood chopping and sawing contests (chopping, Jack ‘n Jill, ax throwing, and more), farmer’s night out contests (woman’s skillet throwing, back seat driver, three-legged race, barnyard friends), baked goods, canned goods, and quilting.

For the kids, singer-story teller Tiger Tom Walsh will be the north stage, Dimples the Clown will be around, and the USA Martial Arts Demo team will be at the main stage grass area.

There will also be The New England Fried Dough Eating Contest on Saturday at 5 pm, which has an entry fee of $20 with prizes of $1,000, $300, and $200.

On Sunday, southern rock and country music will be performed on the main stage by The Cody Wolfe Band, a hollering contest for men, women and children will be conducted, and Agri-Olympics contests (cow milking, hay bale throwing, farm chores, egg toss), wood chopping contests, horse draw, horse show and Gymkhana, Junior beef cattle show, and stock garden tractor pull will all be held.

The children’s pedal tractor pull, another hollerin’ contest, Dimples the Clown, and Tiger Tom Walsh will all provide entertainment for the younger crowd.

In addition to the special events and performances, there will be a scavenger hunt, animal exhibits, adult and children’s blue ribbon winners for baked goods, vegetables, canning, hobbies, and many other exhibits, a scarecrow display, giant pumpkins, and much more.

All three days of the fair will also offer plenty of fabulous food, a midway, a wide variety of vendors, and the amusement rides. 

Bethlehem Fairgrounds are at 384 Main Street North (Route 61).

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens on Saturday and Sunday, and free for ages 12 and under. A weekend pass is also available, for $16. Visa and MasterCard are accepted at the ticket window, and parking is free.
