To The Editor:

We moved here three years ago to be closer to our children and grandchildren.

We don’t have $700,000 to buy a two bedroom home, don’t see the appeal of living in an age restricted community and take the responsibility of preserving the natural resources and land uses that will be part of our legacy to our future generations. Straining and possibly irrevocably harming the right to clean water, clean air, quality of life for the whole of Newtown to accommodate cluster housing seems so at odds with everything that the town created a Zoning Board to protect.

Hence, why the developers are trying to change the ordinance in order to build the proposed 55 and older homes.

The developers assurance that new technology in septic tanks is the magic bullet means that it is still unproven in the long run. 80 homes on 60 acres plus a club house and a pool? Would anyone who lives in Newtown want that as a neighbor on their beautiful country road?
