In celebration of National Senior Citizens Day, the C.H. Booth Library hosted a Seniors Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 21.

Dozens of seniors came out to enjoy the sweet treats from Ferris Acres Creamery, and they socialized with one another outside on the patio area.

Each had a choice of vanilla, chocolate, raspberry swirl chunk (vanilla ice cream with swirls of raspberry and dark chocolate chunks), or Sunset on the Peach (peach ice cream with raspberry swirls) ice cream, as well as hot fudge, rainbow sprinkles, strawberries, toasted coconut, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries for toppings.

During the festivities, Newtown Senior Center member Jim McGowan gave a special acapella performance of “Unchained Melody” and “For the Good Times” as the crowd gathered around.

More good times were had as Ferris Acres Creamery continued to serve up ice cream at the library throughout the afternoon.
