Kindergarten students across Newtown got a taste of school on August 23, ahead of the start of the 2019-20 school year on August 26.

Newtown Public School district kindergarten students all had the opportunity to ride a bus to school on August 23 through a coordinated effort with All-Star Transportation. The buses arrived at the four elementary schools at the same time after picking the students up at home. Parent volunteers joined the students on the buses.

As the first bus pulled in at Head O’ Meadow Elementary School, educators were ready to welcome to students and prepare them to meet their kindergarten teachers.

“Welcome to kindergarten!” Head O’ Meadow Principal Tim Napolitano exclaimed as one student stepped off the bus.

Reminder To Submit First Day Of School Photos

Newtown Public School district parents can share first day of school (August 26) photos of their child/children with The Newtown Bee for possible publication in next week’s print edition of the paper. The deadline to submit photos is 9 am on Tuesday, August 27.

Submit photos by e-mailing them with a description of each photo — including the first and last name of those pictured, what grade they are in, and which school they attend — to Education Reporter Eliza Hallabeck, eliza@thebee.com. Photos submitted may be included in that week’s print edition of the paper and may be used in next year’s Back to School supplement.
