Ending Summer Vacation With A Skirmish

Erica “The Snake” Hill and Julia “Tater” Diluoffo set their lasers aside. “That was intense,” Julia said.

“So much adrenaline,” Erica said.

During a day of laser tag at Dickinson Park offered through Newtown Youth & Family Services, the youth enjoyed a fun “ice-breaker,” said Kaitlyn Johnson with the NYFS. “This is so we can have fun before getting into the [school] books and academics,” she said. An underage drinking prevention grant funded the event.

“I didn’t think I could have this much fun,” Erica said. She and her friends agreed that they did what they could to “stay in the game” as they maneuvered through obstacles trying to tag their friends. The laser guns would beep to indicate when they had been tagged.

Doug “Viper” Main at one point had the most hits with 27 tags. The game was “pretty fun” and “intense” he said. Friends Matt Mossbarger and Wesley Morlock were “having a blast” as they leaned against temporary walls and peered out to aim their shots.

Providing the gaming equipment was CT Funco LLC of Middletown.
