Trespassing Incident
Police report that they learned at about 2:56 pm on August 17 that someone had forced entry and had illegally gone into an unoccupied duplex residence at the Washington Square section of Fairfield Hills, off Keating farms Avenue.
The break-in apparently occurred during the hour preceding its discovery, police said. The duplexes in that area served as the homes of Fairfield Hills professional staff members when the facility functioned as a state psychiatric hospital in the past.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at the police station.
Moving Violations
Police report they observed motorist Kimberly Francisco, 27, of 7 Drummers Lane driving eastward on Sugar Street, near South Main Street, about 9:11 am on August 16 while talking on a handheld cellphone, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police said they charged Francisco with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and with driving with a suspended license.
Police said they released her on a written promise to appear on August 30 in Danbury Superior Court.
Cellphone Missing
Police ask anyone who found an Apple-brand iPhone cellphone, which is enclosed in a black LifeProof-brand protective case, on the premises at Ferris Acres Creamery at 144 Sugar Street (Route 302) to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841. Police said that a person lost the cellphone at the creamery on July 9.
DUI/Speeding
Police report that while on patrol at about 12:50 am on August 17, they used radar to determine that motorist Scott M. Suhoza, 24, of Brewster, Mass., was traveling at a speed exceeding the posted limit while heading northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Laurel Road.
Police said they stopped Suhoza to investigate, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and with speeding.
After he posted $100 bail, police said they released Suhoza for an August 29 court appearance to answer the charges.
Intersection Crash
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hanover Road and The Boulevard Extension at about 6:51 pm on August 13.
In that incident, a 2008 BMW X-5 SUV, which was driven by Florie Fazliu, 27, of Greenwich, collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by James Minei, 49, of Fairfield, police said.
Fazliu reported an arm injury after the accident and ambulance volunteers responded to the scene, but Fazliu refused medical attention, police said.
Police said they issued Fazliu an infraction for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
Two Warrants
After learning that police held warrants for his arrest, Christopher Lewis, 27, of 98 Church Hill Road turned himself over to police at the police station about 7 am on August 20, police said.
Police said they charged Lewis with third-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.
Police said the charges stem from incidents that occurred on April 19 and on May 17. Police report they held Lewis on $15,000 bail for an arraignment August 20 at Danbury Superior Court.
Lewis did not plead at his arraignment. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on September 4.
Intersection Collision
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Hanover Road and The Boulevard Extension about 11:34 am on August 19.
The incident involved motorist Hitender Kumar, 43, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2002 Hyundai Accent three-door hatchback, and motorist Daniel Kost, 45, of 2 Lake Drive, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, police said.
Police report that Kost and two passengers in the Chevrolet were treated at the scene for injuries. Kumar received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign, police said.
Found Item
At about 9:10 pm on August 16, a purse was found on Castle Hill Road. Police are holding the purse for safekeeping. The purseâs owner should contact police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841, to claim the item.
Theft From Vehicle
Police are investigating an incident involving the theft of items from a parked motor vehicle at Nunnawauk Meadows, a senior citizens housing complex at 3 Nunnawauk Road.
Police said that sometime between 3 pm on August 16 and 9:45 am on August 17, someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole unspecified items from within.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them.
Interstate Mishap
State police report that motorist Tara Ferris, 42, of 72 Alpine Circle was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta westward on Interstate 84 about 8:25 am on August 18, when the hood of the vehicle flew up into the âopenâ position, blocking the driverâs view of the road.
Ferris lost control of the auto, after which the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet road surface and came to rest on turf on the right road shoulder, state police said.
Ferris was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.
Toyota Vs Guardrails
State police report that motorist Erin Cusick, 20, of Oakville was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry sedan on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 10 about 9:32 pm on August 17, when she lost control of the auto and struck some metal-beam guardrailing.
Cusick was not injured. State police said they issued her an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Church Hill Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident near 57 Church Hill Road about 3:06 pm on August 18.
Police said motorist Patrick Simms, 48, of 7-A Possum Ridge Road, who was driving a 2009 Audi A-6 sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, stopped at the driveway entrance to 57 Church Hill Road, after which eastbound motorist Biagio Favuzza, 89, of 99 Haley Lane, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan, attempted to pass the Audi.
The front end of the Toyota, however, struck the rear end of the Audi, police said. Simms complained of an injury, but refused medical attention, police said. Police said they verbally warned Favuzza for following too closely.
