To the Editor:

I am endorsing Bruce Walczak for the Board of Education. Bruce is both an independent thinker and a Committee member for the State Independent Party. Bruce is a long-time resident of Newtown with two children who attended Sandy Hook Elementary.

He has dedicated countless hours to this community having served in leadership positions on numerous volunteer organizations including: United Way, Junior Achievement, Newtown Youth and Family Services, and Lions Club. He served on the Newtown Police Commission and is a current member of both the Economic Development Commission and the Newtown Business Advisory Council.

His background in economics and finance and his experience as a business owner will be invaluable in ensuring value for our tax dollars. More importantly, Bruce values education, diversity, honesty and transparency and will work tirelessly to support our educators.

I believe he can be a voice of reason and compromise and will work to ensure that the Board stays focused on relevant issues while keeping national politics out. Five members of our community will be elected this November to serve on the Board of Education.

I urge you to consider voting for Bruce Walczak for one of those spots.
