TransitionCT, a transitional program for adults with special needs, is a neighbor to The Newtown Bee. Earlier this summer, Reporter Sam Cross extended an invite to the group that serves over 100 adults in the area to tour the office at 5 Church Hill Road. Due to the large number of adults the group serves, Cross and fellow Reporter Jenna Visca led eight tours through the office.

The visitors got to learn about how the newspaper is made by stopping in each department, meeting the faces behind it, and hearing about what each person does for both The Newtown Bee and Antiques & The Arts Weekly.

While touring the building, the attendees also learned about the Smith family history and the men behind the 149 years of Bee history. Many of the individuals who visited the building were familiar with The Bee from previous coverage of TransitionCT’s Holiday Spectacular — a holiday show to celebrate the year of hard work, fun, and adventures the group has had.

Many of the participants were thrilled to look through two editions of The Newtown Bee from July 1976. The July 2 and July 9 editions of The Bee covered the Newtown bicentennial celebrations throughout town, like the picnic and Rochambeau reenactors.
