Spaghetti & Bluegrass,

Sat. At NUMC

Newtown United Methodist Church will host its first Saturday spaghetti dinner, followed by a coffee house event, on Saturday, September 2. The church is at 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook.

Both events are open to the public, who is invited to enjoy one or both offerings. Admission to the spaghetti dinner is $8 for adults, $7 for and $3.50 for children; admission to the coffee house is $4, or $3 for those who attend the spaghetti dinner.

The monthly pasta dinner runs from 5 to 7:30 pm and is set up in the church’s lower meeting hall (entry is through the rear, lower parking lot). Dinner includes fruit cup, tossed salad with a choice of dressings, pasta with a choice of sauces (meatless, mild or spicy), garlic bread, soft drinks and coffee, and a choice of desserts.

Following dinner, NUMC Coffee House presents live music by Newtown’s own Roger Sprung, an internationally-recognized bluegrass musician. Mr Sprung is frequently joined by his friend Hal Wylie for an evening of bluegrass and folk on banjo and guitar. Musicians are welcome to sit in, and all ages are welcome for the performance.

The coffee house segment of the evening, which runs from 7:45 to 10:30 pm, offers participants additional dessert selections along with soft drinks and coffee.
