Elections Have Consequences XIII

To the Editor:

Two weeks ago, Trump flew to Alaska to meet Putin to discuss the war in Ukraine that Putin started. It was TACO man meets Macho man. The so-called leader of the free world rolled out the red carpet for a man charged with war crimes, arranged for a military flyover and offered a ride to the meeting in his own limousine. Trump was visibly excited to see his buddy Vlad. Putin couldn’t be happier standing on American soil and being accepted as an equal after having been shunned on the world stage by most world leaders for invading Ukraine, killing civilians and kidnapping children.

Trump proved that he deserves his new moniker, TACO, which stands for Trump Always Chickens Out. He cannot grasp the simple fact that Putin invaded Ukraine — that Putin is one of the bad guys. Leading up to this meeting, Trump was calling for a cease fire with threats of increased sanctions if his demands were not met. All of that evaporated once Putin arrived. Maybe it was Putin whispering in Trump’s ear that “mail-in ballots are bad” or “I did not interfere in the 2016 election to help you” that did the trick. Overall, nothing positive was accomplished and the meeting broke up early.

This was not the first time that Putin was able to embarrass Trump who just seems to accept it. What is hard to comprehend is that this is the same man that Republicans are incapable or unwilling to stand up to. The conflict in Ukraine will not end until the US takes a firm stand with Russia and it’s looking less likely that Trump is up to the job.

Putin returned home to continue unleashing military attacks on Ukrainian civilians. Trump returned home to unleash more military personnel on the streets of DC to intimidate US civilians. So far there has been no talk about sending any troops to areas with some of the highest crime rates in the country, which happen to be in red states.

On a positive note — at least, Trump was able to resist giving our 49th state back to Russia, where some are advocating for it to be returned as part of their expansionist goals.
