Support The Food Pantry

At The Parade

To the Editor:

The FAITH Food Pantry needs your help. FAITH Food Pantry supports only Newtown residents who are in need of temporary assistance. Demand at the pantry had increased from an average of 75 clients a month last year to an average of 175 clients a month this year. This is an increase of over 140 percent. Summer in particular is very difficult. There are few food drives and food donations during this time.

You can make a difference. Please bring a can of unexpired food to the Newtown Labor Day Parade in a plastic shopping bag and place it along the curb of the parade route. Our team will come along and pick it up. Please bring pasta, canned spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned stew, complete pancake mix, canned fruit and cereal (Cheerios or Corn Flakes are preferred). Faith Food wants to nourish their clients, not just fill them up.

Imagine what we can do as a town if everyone brings 1 can to the parade. Remind your friends and neighbors to bring 1 can as well. Why? Because 1 can make(s) a difference.

Thank you in advance for your support.
