Real Food CT, a Newtown-based nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity across Connecticut, will host its sixth annual “An Evening at the Farm” fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, from 5 to 8 pm, at Sticks & Stones Farm, 197 Huntingtown Road.

Food insecurity in Connecticut is near its highest level in years. Roughly one in seven residents — more than 516,000 people — do not have reliable access to enough food, according to Feeding America. Real Food CT works the supply side of that gap, moving fresh produce from local farms to pantries across the region at no cost.

Last year, with the community’s support, the organization donated 158,000 pounds of fresh produce to families across the region. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will help push that total even higher.

Guests will gather at the magical Sticks & Stones Farm for an evening of farm fresh fare, live music, and fellowship with others who share a passion for local food and community. Angelina’s Italian Deli & Catering, known for its authentic Italian fare and warm hospitality, will serve as the evening’s main chef, with dessert from Ferris Acres Creamery, consistently ranked among the top creameries in the region and country.

The menu will also showcase produce from Daffodil Hill Growers, Waldingfield Farm, Laurel Glen Farm, Gazy Brothers Farm, and Fort Hill Farm.

Live music will be performed by Dan Tressler, one of Fairfield County’s most well-regarded string players.

Chef’s Warehouse of Ridgefield is the event’s primary sponsor.
