Arrest On Warrant

Malaysia McCrea, 25, of Danbury, turned herself in at Newtown Police Department on July 22 after learning of a warrant for her arrest.

Newtown police state the warrant stemmed from a rollover accident that occurred on Toddy Hill Road shortly before 9 am, Sunday, February 14, in which McCrea was the operator of the motor vehicle.

McCrea was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained from rollover.

According to the police report, McCrea was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. She was additionally charged with failure to drive right and traveling too fast for conditions.

She was released from custody on a promise to appear at Danbury Superior Court on July 28.

According to the Connecticut Judicial database, McCrea is now scheduled for a remote hearing on September 13.

Car vs Tree

Newtown police report Perez A. Ramirez, 30, of Bethel, was operating a 1999 Ford Explorer southbound on Little Brook Lane around 1:23 am, Friday, August 13.

Ramirez backed the vehicle onto the grass of a residence on that road, struck a tree, and then stopped.

Ramirez reported no injuries, but was transported to a hospital for observation.

The case remained under investigation as of August 19.

Following Too Closely

Newtown police report Marybeth A. Burkstrom, 20, of Holmes, N.Y., was operating a 2008 Lincoln Navigator westbound on Berkshire Road, approaching the I-84 overpass, around 11:57 am, Saturday, August 14.

Burkstrom was behind a 2021 Toyota Corolla being operated by Michael R. Biancardi, 25, of Sandy Hook.

Biancardi began braking due to regular traffic, and the front bumper of the Lincoln collided with the rear bumper of the Toyota.

No injuries were reported.

Burkstrom was given a verbal warning for following too closely resulting in an accident.

Larceny At Tractor Supply

A larceny was reported at Tractor Supply Company, 119 South Main Street, at approximately 4:39 pm, Saturday, August 14.

Newtown police report an individual entered the store, placed a power washer into a shopping cart, and then fled out a side door.

Witnesses described the suspect as a heavily tattooed white or Hispanic male with long, dark hair in a ponytail.

Witnesses also reported the suspect was driving a light green and tan 2004 Subaru Outback with a temporary license plate taped to the rear window.

Failure To Maintain Lane

Newtown police report Gabriel Guerrero, 37, of Stratford, was operating a 2006 Mini Cooper S westbound on Wasserman Way around 8:52 am, Thursday, August 19.

Approximately one-tenth of a mile east of Wasserman’s intersection with Nunnawauk Road, Guerrero lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the center line, spun, and hit the guardrail.

Guerrero was not injured. The Mini was damaged, but could be driven from the scene.

Guerrero was issued an infraction for failure to maintain proper lane.

Unsafe Backing

Newtown police report Alexander J. Taverner, 19, of Seymour, was operating a 2013 BMW 328xi westbound on Wasserman Way around 11:35 am, Friday, August 20.

Taverner was in a left turn lane and stopped in the middle of the intersection to the I-84 Exit 11 on-ramp.

Meanwhile, Jennifer M. Henderson, 36, of Manchester, operating a 2008 Toyota Prius, had turned from the I-84 Exit 11 off-ramp onto Wasserman Way in the westbound direction.

Henderson stopped the Prius behind the BMW, which was positioned in the middle of the intersection over the stop line and under the traffic signal. Taverner began backing up, and the BMW collided with the Prius.

Taverner was given a verbal warning for unsafe backing.

Infraction, Verbal Warning

Newtown police report a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport truck being operated by Daniel H. Grise, 64, of Brookfield, was stopped facing westbound on Church Hill Road at Main Street in traffic around 5:31 pm, Friday, August 20.

A 2003 Honda Pilot EX being operated by Eusebio Hidalgo, 44, of Danbury, was traveling behind the truck. Hidalgo was unable to stop the Pilot before the front of that vehicle struck the rear of the Dodge.

No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Hidalgo was issued an infraction for operating a motor vehicle without a license and given a verbal warning for following too close resulting in an accident.

DUI, Failure To Maintain Lane

On August 21, around 7:05 pm, Newtown police received a 911 call regarding an erratic driver on Church Hill Road.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle, which was then heading westbound on Sugar Street.

The operator was identified as Theresa Dinapoli, 66, of Watertown. Following an investigation, Dinapoli was placed under arrest charged with one count of failure to maintain a lane and one count of DUI.

Dinapoli was released on a $200 bond. She is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on September 8.

Five Charges Follow Rollover

Connecticut State Police report Isaiah M. Galarza-Barlow, 24, of Danbury, was operating a 1999 Ford Explorer in the left of three lanes on the Exit 11 on-ramp to I-84 at around 12:33 pm, Sunday, August 22.

Galarza-Barlow lost control of the vehicle in the wet conditions and crashed into the DOT bridge guardrail. The vehicle ended up on its driver’s side.

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded to the scene.

Galarza-Barlow sustained a minor injury to his hand, according to the CSP report.

The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Galarza-Barlow was issued a misdemeanor summons for traveling unreasonably fast for conditions in a construction zone, misuse of plates, no insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating without a license.
