Evelyn Rose Benanti

Evelyn Rose Benanti, 85, of Newtown, the wife of John J. Benanti, died August 23. She was born in New York City, December 30, 1926.

Mrs Benanti and husband were residents of Putnam Lake, N.Y., for more than 50 years, prior to moving to Newtown.

She will be lovingly remembered for her dedication to family, unfailing generosity to the less fortunate, and for her kindnesses to everyone she met. Although she worked for 30 years at CBS until her retirement, she was most proud of her years of community involvement as a member of the Rosary Altar Society and head of religious instruction, Sacred Heart Church, Patterson, N.Y., and her work with children at Green Chimneys in Brewster, N.Y.

In addition to her husband, her sister Jean Tannacore, daughter Laura-Jean Benanti with family Paul and Marie, sons John Benanti, Jr and partner Dorothy, Lawrence Benanti with wife Mary Jane; grandsons Anthony Rhew and Adam Thomson-Benanti; and many other adoring family members survive Mrs Benanti.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place August 29, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or at stjude.org.
