Sandy Hook Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident in Sandy Hook Center about 4:35 pm on August 25.

Motorist Syed Ahmed 20, of 4 Cherry Heights Terrace was driving a 1997 Mazda Protégé eastward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Mary Olivieri, 58, of Southbury, who was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy, was attempting to exit the commercial driveway at 100 Church Hill Road. police said.

In attempting to make a left turn out onto the street, the Subaru drove in front of the approaching Mazda, resulting in a collision, police report. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Olivieri a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
