Reading Is Its Own Reward
Reading Is Its Own Reward
To the Editor:
Four hundred sixty-five children registered for the summer reading program at the C.H. Booth Library, âDream Big Read!â Over the course of seven weeks they collectively read more than 12,000 books. While reading is its own reward, we offered free pizza slices from My Place, a donut from Dunkinâ Donuts, Westerners Baseball Tickets, and a free paperback courtesy of the Friends of the Library for those who read 20 books. Children earned raffle tickets for every five books they read for chances to win additional prizes donated by area businesses. We would like to thank the following business owners for supporting our program:
My Place, Dunkinâ Donuts, Newtown Nail Spa, Cave Comics, Bead of Roses, Toy Tree, Radio Shack, Peachwave, Edmund Town Hall, Ferris Acres, Kay Epp, and Truly Yours.
I would also like to thank the 58 wonderful young adults who volunteered 776 hours to meet one on one with the younger readers. Our program depends on their dedication every year to make our summer reading program a success.
Sincerely,
Alana Bennison
