Residents Fare Well In Bridgewater
BRIDGEWATER â- The 61st Bridgewater Country Fair returned to the fairgrounds on Route 133 the weekend of August 17-19, with art and photo exhibits, vegetables, fruit and flower exhibits, cattle and poultry displays, industrial and agricultural exhibits, carnival rides, amusements, commercial tents, vendors, food and refreshments, and live entertainment.
Dozens of competitions were hosted by the event, with a number of Newtown residents bringing home trophies and ribbons for their efforts.
The following is a listing of residents who received awards from the fair:
*Baking â State Apple Pie Contest: John Boccuzzi, first place; King Arthur Flour Cupcakes: Sabrina Boccussi, first place;
*Canning & Eggs â Blackberry Jelly: Myles Ku, first place; Cucumber/Onion: Laura Duffy, third place; Currant Jam: Jetson Ku, second place; Garlic Pickles: Laura Duffy, first place; Pickled Beets: Laura Duffy, third place; Strawberry Rhubarb: Myles Ku, second place;
*Canning, Junior Division â Best of Show to Myles Ku; Judgesâ Choice to Jetson Ku;
*Firemenâs Parade: The Best Overall Fire Unit/Porges Trophy was presented to Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.
*Flower Exhibit â Horticulture Cut Flower, Class 5: Laura Duffy, first place; Horticulture Cut Flower, Class 6: Bill Duffy, second place; Horticulture Houseplants, Class 2D: Laura Duffy, second place; Horticulture Hydrangea, Class 2: Natalie Sauli, second place; Horticulture Perennials, Class 5: Bill Duffy first place, Laura Duffy third place; Horticulture Roses, Class 4: Laura Duffy, first place;
