This Summer

Was For Reading

To the Editor:

The Adult Summer Reading Program is closing its books on another successful season of reading. This year over 1,500 titles were submitted and participants wrote up some great reviews of books they discovered this summer. If you would like to see what your fellow Newtowners are recommending, stop by the second floor circulation desk of the library. You’ll get some great reading suggestions.

The summer reading programs cannot happen without the generous support of our wonderful local business owners. Every year they come through for us, donating gift certificates for our prizes, and this year was no different. Their community spirit is very much appreciated and we hope that you will support them by shopping and eating locally. Next time you’re in the mood for a delicious meal consider stopping by The Inn at Newtown, Sal e Pepe, Toro, or Villarina’s. If a little pampering is in order, visit Avance Esthetiques, Newtown Nail Spa, Nina’s Nails, or Ricci’s Salon and Spa. For a great bottle of wine and friendly service consider Sandy Hook Liquors and Yankee Wine & Spirits. All of these local merchants support the C.H. Booth Library as well as many other nonprofits and organizations in town. Year after year they come through for us.

Congratulations to our 2012 summer reading winners and a heartfelt thanks to our sponsors who make it happen!
