Rabbi/Comic Brings Laughter To United Jewish Center

DANBURY — Rabbi Bob Alper, the world’s only practicing clergyman doing standup comedy – intentionally – will give a free performance at the United Jewish Center, 141 Deer Hill Avenue, on Saturday, September 16, at 8 pm.

The performance is the 20th in a series of Jewish cultural offerings made possible by the Robert S. Young Foundation for Jewish Culture. The community is invited to attend.

A native of Providence, Rabbi Bob Alper was ordained at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati and is the first Jew ever to earn a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary. He has served congregations in Buffalo and Philadelphia, where he continues to conduct High Holiday services.

He began his comedy career in 1986 and has been featured on Extra, Showtime, Comedy Central, and Good Morning America. His clean, gentle brand of comedy is appropriate for people of all faiths.
