Bob Glander Scholarship Recipients

Newtown Babe Ruth League announces this year’s recipients of the Bob Glander/Newtown Babe Ruth Scholarship are Ashley Ferris and Jeremy Mitchell, both graduates of Newtown High School Class of 2006. Each of the recipients will receive $1000 to be used toward his/her college expenses.

The scholarship was established in 1997 by Ginger Glander and her children, Jason, Matthew, and Christine, following the sudden death of their husband and father, Bob Glander. Mr Glander coached various sports in Newtown for many years.

The scholarship is awarded to a male and a female Newtown High School graduate who exemplify good sportsmanship, integrity, and love of the sport of baseball/softball. The scholarship is made possible through direct donations to Newtown Babe Ruth. Donations can be made at the time baseball registration or by mail to Box 133, Newtown CT 06470.
