Remember Fluteville?

WATERBURY — Fluteville is a forgotten little hamlet in the Naugatuck Valley with a remarkable past. Located behind Thomaston Dam, the town combined family history, music and the entrepreneurial spirit to build a small industry crafting musical instruments.

Ann Smith, the curator of special projects at The Mattatuck Museum Art & History Center, will re-create the story of the people who lived and worked there during “Fluteville – The Tiny Musical Town,” a special program scheduled for Saturday, September 16, at the museum.

The 90-minute program will begin at 3:30 pm. Reservations are requested, and the show is included in regular museum admission ($4 for adults, free for anyone age 16 and under).

Call 203-753-0381. The Mattatuck Museum is at 144 West Main Street.
