The Newtown Road Race will be held Saturday, September 2, and will feature a 5K and Kid’s Run. The 5K will start at 9 am and the Kid’s Run will start at 10:15 am, both beginning and ending at Dickinson Park. The course is flat, fast, and USTAF certified. Divisions will be 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and prizes will be $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third.

The first 500 entrants will receive a t-shirt designed by one of Newtown’s students. Walkers, runners and jogging strollers are all invited to participate.

If you have already registered, pre-registration goody bags are available at Olympia Sports on Thursday, August 30, and Friday, September 1, from 11 am to 7 pm, at Olympia Sports in the Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street. All proceeds from the race will be donated to Newtown Youth Services.

The course -

Starting at Dickinson Park, runners will take a left out of the park onto Elm, heading north; then head left onto Sugar Street, going west; then a left onto Juniper, heading back south; then a left onto Birch Rise, heading east; then a right on Elm; then bearing right onto Deepbrook Road; continuing on Point O’Rocks; taking a right onto Brushy Hill; then going about 0.4 miles and making a U-turn to finish line at Park.
