The Right To March
The Right To March
To the Editor:
An article in last weekâs Bee really bothered me. I was very surprised that Senator Lieberman was invited by the parade committee and then uninvited by Mr. Rosenthal. How rude.
Itâs a Newtown parade, not a political party. Everyone who was invited, who wishes to take part in our end of summer event, should have the right to march. I sure hope that Senator Lieberman will do so, so I can applaud him.
I would rather see an elected Senator than a Democrat candidate that was only voted for in a Democrat primary. I do believe that election day is still in November. That is when all registered voters will have their voices heard.
I am a native of Newtown and have been here long before the Labor Day Parade became an end of summer event. Is our slogan still âNicer in Newtownâ?
May everyone enjoy our great parade and applaud all the people that march to make this such a festive event.
Respectfully,

Editorâs Note: Sen Lieberman was invited to Newtownâs parade by a member of the Democratic Town Committee. Mr Rosenthal requested only that he not march with the Democrats in the parade.
