Fall Computer Classes Offered At Library

Dan Tannenbaum, co-owner of the Newtown Computer and Financial Services, will be returning to the C.H. Booth Library this fall to teach two levels of computer classes for the true beginner and for those interested in advanced topics.

The beginner’s class is offered on three dates: Saturday, September 10; Saturday, October 1; and Saturday, November 5. from 9 am to noon. This class offers hands-on introduction to computers designed for the true beginner. It will focus on keyboard keys, shortcuts, and function keys, mouse skills, including how to use mouse buttons, double clicking, drag and drop.

Mr Tannenbaum will also provide an overview on the Internet/websites as well as how to search for information using biblio resources and search engines. At the end of the class there will be plenty of time for individual questions.

Classes are free but space must be reserved by calling or visiting the library to register. The classes take place on the second floor of the library in the Young Adults department.

The more advanced classes will also be offered at three different times: Saturday, September 17; Saturday, October 15; and Saturday, November 19. There is a $10 fee due at the time of registration for the advanced class, which will cover web issues including downloading files, saving pictures, and other issues the participants would like demonstrated. The advanced class will also meet on the second floor of the library.

In addition, Mr Tannenbaum will be offering a new class on the ins and outs of online shopping plus an overview of digital photography on Saturday, December 10, from 9 am to noon. Call the library at 426-4533 to register or for more information.
