South Main Collision

Police report that at about 4:19 pm August 26, motorist Joseph Sotnick, 69, of Watertown, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Venture van northward near 150 South Main Street, struck the rear end of a northbound 2002 Kia Sedona minivan driven by Nancy Faroux, 49, of Monroe.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sotnick a written warning for following too closely.

Two Charges

Police said they observed Brandon Lee Thomas, 18, of 11 Stone Fence Lane steal a construction sign from the area of 43 Main Street about 6 pm August 27 and then put the sign in the rear of a vehicle in which he was a passenger, after which the vehicle drove away.

Police said they stopped the vehicle to investigate and searched it, after which they found a butterfly-style knife beneath the passenger seat.

Police said they then arrested Thomas on charges of sixth degree larceny and possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

After arrest processing, police released Thomas from custody on a written promise to appear September 13 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the criminal charges.

 

SUV Vs Pickup

About 5:22 pm August 26, motorist Brian Perelmuter, 35, of Sutton, Mass., who was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder westward on Church Hill Road, was stopped and waiting to make a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot at 66 Church Hill Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Brett Muccino, 55, of Wolcott was driving a 1991 GMC Sonoma pickup truck eastward there, police added.

As the Nissan made the turn, it collided with the GMC, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Perelmuter an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Sugar Street Deer

Motorist Jose Soares, 26, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1995 Volkswagen Passat westward on Sugar Street about 6:49 am August 17, encountered a deer that had run into the road near 127 Sugar Street, police said. The auto and the deer collided.

Soares was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Jeep Vs Honda

About 5:22 pm August 25, motorist David Mariano, 24, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, struck the rear end of a 1997 Honda Civic driven by Nicole Anastas, 31, of Southbury in the parking lot at the Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road, police report.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Moving Violations

About 8:30 am August 29, police spotted motorist Joshua Thompson, 24, of Naugatuck driving on Route 34 in a vehicle that had an expired registration sticker, so they stopped Thompson to investigate.

Police arrested Thompson on charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while under suspension, and driving without automotive insurance.

After posting $100 bail, police released Thompson for a September 13 court appearance.

DUI Arrest

Police report that at about 1:30 am on August 27, they spotted motorist Francisco Aquino, 32, of Bridgeport driving a 1998 Mazda 626 eastward on Mt Pleasant Road and crossing over onto the westbound lane and onto the road’s shoulder.

Police said they stopped Aquino on Main Street to investigate, after which they gave him field sobriety tests. Police charged Aquino with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and making a restricted turn.

After processing the arrest, police released Aquino on $200 bail for a September 9 court appearance.

Appearance Charge

Police report they arrested Rich Serricchio, 39, of New Haven on August 29 on a warrant listing one count of second degree failure to appear in court.

Serricchio had failed to appear in Danbury Superior Court in connection with numerous motor vehicle charges that are pending against him, police said. After posting $1,000 bail, police released Serricchio for a September 14 court appearance.

Appearance Charge

On August 31, police charged Tina Marie Geraci, 38, of New Haven on a warrant listing charges of failure to appear in court, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police said the arrest stems from Geraci’s failure to appear June 2 in Danbury Superior Court in connection with the four drug charges that were filed against Geraci following an April 24 incident.

Police held Geraci on $25,000 bail for an August 31 court appearance.

Mitsubishi Vs Mitsubishi

Motorist Aliceny Nunes, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant westward near 166 Mt Pleasant Road about 3:42 pm August 29, slowed and was then struck from behind by westbound motorist Carlos Silva, 27, of Fall River, Mass., who was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Silva an infraction for following too closely and driving without a license. Police issued Nunes an infraction for driving without a license.
