99th Goshen Fair Labor Day Weekend

GOSHEN — On Saturday, September 3, at 8 am, the 99th Goshen Fair will begin.

Offered by The Goshen Agricultural Society, the event will run for the three days of Labor Day weekend, continuing on Saturday until 8 pm, Sunday from 8 am until 8 pm, and Monday, September 5, 8 am to 6 pm.

The fair will offer exhibits of arts and crafts, photography, needlework of all kinds, bakery, flowers, fruits and vegetables, canning and a children’s department. Animals to be shown include dairy and beef cattle, goats, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits and draught animals. New this year will be pig races and llamas, too.

A midway will be teeming with rides, food, games of chance, and vendors with wares galore.

Live entertainment will be offered by The Cobblestone Road Band, Stone Canyon Band, and Lynn Flanders Country Line Dancing, The NW CT Band and The Bristol Olde Tyme Fiddlers. Every day, a juggler, magician and members of the Matica Arts Circus will amaze young and old.

Other events include lumberjack and woodcutting contests, antique and garden tractor pulls, a truck pull, horse and oxen drawings, as well as hand crafting demonstrations in the antique barn.

This year a new event, The Great Fair Dare, will take place on Saturday at 1.

The fairgrounds are on at 116 Old Middle Street (Route 63 South) in Goshen. Admission is $8 for adults, free for ages 12 and under. Senior citizens will be admitted for $5 on Saturday. Free parking all weekend.
