Police List Road Closures, Parking Bans For Parade
Staging the townâs annual Labor Day Parade will require that roads leading to the town center be closed to traffic from about 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Monday, September 5, according to police Lieutenant Christopher Vanghele.
Roadblocks to halt traffic flow will be set up at: Main Streetâs access points from Academy Lane, Currituck Road, Hanover Road, Schoolhouse Hill Road, and West Street; southbound Mt Pleasant Road at Reservoir Road; westbound Church Hill Road at The Boulevard; Sugar Street at Elm Drive; northbound South Main Street at Elizabeth Street, and northbound Queen Street at Elizabeth Street.
The detour for northbound traffic on South Main Street will be via Wasserman Way.
Several road sections will have âNo Parkingâ signs posted on them and will be considered tow-away zones. Those road sections are: The Boulevard between Church Hill Road and Schoolhouse Hill Road; Schoolhouse Hill Road between The Boulevard and Main Street; Hanover Road between Main Street and Hall Lane, and Elm Drive between Sugar Street and Hawley Road.
