Resident Encounters Burglary In Progress

Police are investigating an incident in which a female who was returning to her Sandy Hook home on the morning of Tuesday, August 30, discovered a burglary in progress there.

Police received a call reporting the incident at about 10:17 am. There were no injuries, police said.

“The female complainant reported that she had come home and seen a male exiting a second-floor window of her residence by jumping out of it,” police said in a brief statement. The home is on Narragansett Trail.

“The male then ran north on Narragansett Trail,” police said.

The female described the suspect as a thin, black male who was wearing a light-colored shirt and dark pants, police said.

“A search of the area met with negative results,” police said. Narragansett Trail is a side street that extends northward from Riverside Road.

Detectives responded to the home to investigate. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
