To the Editor:

On behalf of the race organizers, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone that participated in the ninth annual Newtown Road Race 5K. An extraordinary morning with partial sunshine and temps in the upper-50s brought out 600-plus registered runners in the 5K and dozens of smiling children for the kid’s fun run.  All proceeds of the race benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services.

This race would not be possible without the generous financial support of our sponsors, our incredibly hard working volunteers, NYFS agency staff and the new faces/old friends that came out ready to run. 

Several town departments help us pull this race off every year and we would like to extend special thanks to the Newtown Police Department, Highway Department and Parks & Recreation for their cooperation.  Once again, thanks to The Newtown Bee for its usual great coverage of the race.
