Huntingtown Road Crash, Charges

Police report that Loida Flores, 23, of 124 Huntingtown Road was driving a 2005 Toyota vehicle northward near 176 Huntingtown Road about 1:50 am on August 23, when the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and entered a ditch.

There were no injuries. After investigating, Flores received an infraction on charges of making a restricted turn, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to change an address on a driver’s license, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, police report.

Interstate Accident

While driving on westbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet west of the Exit 9 interchange, at about 5:36 pm on August 25, motorist Noelle Tenedou-Levine, 76, of Ridgefield, who was driving a 2004 Acura TL sedan, attempted to change lanes and struck a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck driven by Tyler Shaw, 28, of Bainbridge, N.Y., state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Tenedou-Levine failed to maintain her travel lane.

I-84 DUI Arrest

State police said they stopped motorist Jose Rodriguez, 23, of New Haven about 11:52 pm on August 26 on westbound Interstate 84, east of the Exit 11 interchange, because he was not staying in his travel lane.

After investigating, state police charged Rodriguez with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane.

After arrest processing, Rodriguez was released on $500 bail for a September 15 court appearance.

Truck vs Minivan

State police report a two-vehicle accident about 3:40 pm on August 26 on eastbound Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of the Exit 11 interchange.

In that incident, the two vehicles that made contact were a 2009 International Pro-Star heavy truck driven by James Brinkley, 40, of Salem, N.C., and a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan driven by Danielle Valero, 34, of Oakville, state police report.

A passenger in the Dodge claimed injury, but refused medical attention, state police said. Fault for the impact could not be determined, state police said. Valero received an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle, state police said.

Highway Collision

State police report that at about 4:52 pm on August 26, motorist Nadine Rooney, 43, of Monroe, who was driving a 2013 Lexus ES-350 sedan eastward on Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of the Exit 11 interchange, attempted to change travel lanes, but struck motorist Shpendim Jonuzi, 27, of Pequannock, NJ, who was driving a 2008 Honda Civic.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

I-84 Crashes

State police report that two related motor vehicle accidents occurred midafternoon on August 27 on eastbound Interstate 84, east of the Exit 9 interchange.

In heavy traffic conditions, motorist Brian Doyle, 46, of Newington, who was driving a 2013 Mazda CX-5, stopped suddenly for traffic and was then struck from behind by motorist Megan Stone, 17, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, state police said.

There were no injuries. Stone received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

After that incident, motorist Ryan Ciresi, 23, of Wolcott, who was driving a 2008 Subaru Legacy, struck the rear end of the Chevrolet driven by Stone, state police said.

There were no injuries. Ciresi received a verbal warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

South Main Accident

Motorist Katherine Tully, 26, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., was driving a 2008 Subaru station wagon northward near 87 South Main Street about 9 pm on August 27, when she lost control of the vehicle on wet pavement and then struck a utility pole, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Tully a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Intersection Crash

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hanover Road and Schoolhouse Hill Road about 4:47 pm on August 29. That intersection is controlled by four stop signs.

Police said that a 2010 Toyota Highlander SUV driven by Michael Brennan, 35, of 7 Fallen Leaf Lane struck a 2002 Chevrolet G-30 van driven by Jerzy Trzebinski, 56, of Norwalk, after the Chevrolet had failed to stop at a stop sign.

There were no injuries. Trzebinski received a written warning for a stop sign violation, police said.

Alcohol Summonses

Police report that at about 8:40 pm on Friday, August 29, they were conducting an investigation of the illegal sale of alcohol to minors.

Police said they were watching activities at Yankee Discount Wine & Spirits at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street. Police said they observed an apparently underage man buy alcohol there without presenting identification to do so.

After investigating further, police said they charged Tyler Hall, 19, of 20 Brookbridge Drive with illegal purchase of alcohol by a minor.

Also, police said they charged Stephen Small, 59, of 154 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who is a package store employee, with illegal sale of alcohol to a minor.

Both Hall and Small are scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on September 15 to answer the charges, police said.

Police said that state liquor regulators will review the incident for possible action against the package store permit holder.

Station Wagon vs Motorcycle

Police report that motorcyclist Daniel Doherty 54, of 3 Fir Tree Lane was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide FLHT Cruiser southward on South Main Street about 11:30 am on August 30, when the motorcycle was hit by motorist Joan Baslow-Temple, 58, of Roxbury, who was driving a Subaru Forester station wagon that was attempting to make a left turn out from a parking lot at 48 South Main Street.

Doherty received a minor injury, police said. Baslow-Temple received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Three Vehicles

At about 11:34 am on August 30, motorist Christopher Chenette, 36, of Burlington, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV westward on Interstate 84, about one-half mile west of the Exit 10 interchange, stopped suddenly due to traffic conditions, state police said.

Westbound motorist Matthew Pho, 26, of Danbury, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Sienna minivan, then struck the Jeep from behind, after which the Toyota cut to the right and was struck by motorist Kristine Hannon, 50, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, who was driving a 2000 Ford Expedition SUV, state police said.

There were no injuries. Pho received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

Traffic Stop

Police report that at about 2:09 pm on August 30, they stopped motorist John Chambrovich, 31, of Danbury near 60 Sugar Street to investigate because he was driving 55 miles per hour in a posted 40-mph zone.

Police said they charged him with traveling too fast for conditions and with driving under suspension. Chambrovich was released on $2,000 nonsurety bail for a September 9 court appearance, according to police.

Police Vehicle Incident

At about 12:39 am on August 31, town police patrol Officer Felicia Figol, 45, was driving the police’s 2013 Ford SUV, which is used for police dog transport, in the Misty Vale Deli parking lot at 51 Berkshire Road, as motorist Rebecca Slosson, 27, of 2 Stony Brook Road was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry sedan westward on Berkshire Road, police said.

The Ford then attempted to turn right to exit the parking lot and enter westbound Route 34, but struck the westbound Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Figol received a verbal warning for failure to grant the right of way, according to police.

Lexus Hits Object

Motorist Thomas Benedetto, 75, of 89 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2014 Lexus GS-350 sedan southward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Johnnie Cake Lane, at about 3:30 pm on August 31, when the vehicle struck a metal object lying on the road, police said.

The impact damaged the underside of the auto. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Speeding In Hawleyville

Motorist Ashley Goetz, 25, of Brookfield was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus sedan southward on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Currituck Road, at about 7:45 pm on August 31, when while negotiating a turn, the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and struck a tree, police said.

Goetz was not injured. Goetz received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.

Sugar Lane Accident

About 5:45 pm on September 2, police responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on private property at 71 Sugar Lane.

Police said motorist Jennifer Killin, 39, of that address, was driving a 2005 Toyota Prius down a driveway when the vehicle’s front end entered a pond in the yard.

After being checked at the scene by ambulance volunteers, Killin was released, police said. Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters responded to the incident. Police took no enforcement.
